Hippo is a Shar-Pei Cocker Spaniel mix, a combination that gives her an irresistibly wrinkly face, silky fur, and a gentle, affectionate personality. But what truly makes Hippo special isn’t just her charming appearance—it’s her heartwarming story, her resilience, and her new role as our official emotional support dog, dedicated to creating a more comforting, joyful experience for our patients and their families.
Hippo’s Journey: From Rescue Pup to Orthodontic Superstar
Before becoming part of Elm Tree Orthodontics, Hippo spent her early days being cared for at the Animal Clinic of Milford, where she was rescued and given a second chance. Her sweet nature caught the attention of many, and when the Desai family met her, it was an instant connection.
The Desais, including Dr. Shamik Desai—a Harvard-trained, Board-Certified Orthodontist—saw in Hippo not only a lovable companion, but also a pup with a natural gift for comforting others. It wasn’t long before Hippo was welcomed both into their home and into the Elm Tree Orthodontics family.
Her calm demeanor, intuitive personality, and eagerness to be around people made her a perfect fit for a supportive role within the office.
